Intrigues and love triangles, sex and sin...

History is full of sexy stories. Intrigues and love triangles. Sex and sin. Stories of seduction and betrayal captivating audiences for as long as time has been recorded. From the books of the bible through the oral legends of ancient Ireland and the Celts, the romance of the highlanders and the exploits of Greek and Roman Gods, sex definitely sells. It's no different today, so no wonder steamy stories are still among the bestsellers lining our bookshelves, often surrounding the plots with the very myths that set our imaginations and libidos soaring!

I've always had romance and sex in my books. A natural coming together of hero and heroine, but lately I've decided to let my characters spend a little more time between the sheets while they're between the pages of their respective stories.

Why? Because sometimes being bad feels pretty good!

Naughty and nice aren't mutually exclusive, and nice girls like to walk on the wild side, too! I'm definitely a member of the naughty and nice club, and to celebrate that I've decided to write these novellas!

It's been almost a year since our new normal began. Most of us have adjusted. We've become accustomed to the way we interact (or not) with each other. Virtual workplaces, virtual holidays, birthdays, I've even heard of virtual vacations. Funny thing is I remember a television commercial from twenty-five years ago highlighting a work-from-home scenario. The commercial was witty. A woman with bedhead, in her bathrobe and fuzzy slippers. The tagline? "I email over oatmeal." Of course, that would never fly in the age of Zoom and Google Hangouts. We've got the mullet version going on today. Business at the top, couch-potato on the bottom. That said, I'm pretty sure work-from-home is here to stay. I can even imagine the next incarnation.  Maybe even full body Star Wars-Style holograms from home sweet home. Who's Talking Now?

  I never get tired of readers asking questions... about me, my books, on how I come up with my stories, or where I find inspiration. I'm an extrovert, and can be a giant flirt at times. I love to tease and joke, so when an interviewer asked where I got ideas for my stories, I replied, “the voices in my head.” The poor woman actually moved her chair back from me. I don’t know if she did so on purpose, or simply because she didn’t know what to make of my answer. Doesn’t matter, because either way I let my crazy slip. Thankfully, I have a wicked sense of humor, so I followed it up with, “Don’t worry. YOU they like.” Thankfully, she laughed. Though my guess is she’s still not too sure about me. The barefaced truth is all characters talk. They are living, breathing entities taking up residence in an author’s head. Here’s an example. When Authors Kill...

 When Authors Kill... A conversation I've had in my head writing each of my books... Muse: He has to die. Me: Are you sure?" Muse nods, then eyes me from my own reflection. "Yes." I blink once, then shrug. "It's not like I have any say in the matter, so..." Muse grins. "I'm glad you finally see that." She pauses, considering me closer. "Now, the question is how do we do it?" If this sounds like you took a ride on the crazy train, then you know what it's like for me. I'm an author. For creative types like me, our characters talk to use, and our muses are even worse. Mine, in particular, has no respect for day or night. She doesn't care whether I'm in the middle of a REM cycle, or in the shower. When she has something to say, I listen, and hopefully I have my laptop at the ready. If not, at least a pen and paper close by. It's nuts, I know. But that's part of the creative process.
